The electric car manufacturer Tesla has signed a delivery agreement with Australian Kidman Resources for lithium, reports The West Australian newspaper.
The deal is three years and a first for an Australian company in terms of lithium deliveries to Tesla.
The agreement, whose financial details are secret, also includes an option that allows the delivery to be extended for a further two rounds in three years if the parties so wish.
Kidman Resources has previously been involved in a joint venture with Chilean lithium producer SQM about the development of a lithium project in Australia. Tesla has at the same time been accused of buying a large shareholding in SQM.
