Agreement signed to build new Canadian nickel mine

Norway House Cree Nation, one of Manitoba’s larg-est Indigenous communities, and Flying Nickel Mining have signed a memorandum of understanding to advance with the Minago nickel project. Under the plan, the investment is to world’s create the lowest-environmental impact nickel mine.

 

Norway House is committed to "principles of economic sustainability, environmental stewardship, and self-determination,”said Norway House Chief Larson Anderson, as reported by local broadcaster CBC.

 

The signed memorandum of understanding covers mineral explora-tion and development of the designed mine, sharing the benefits of the venture which has an earning potential of up to C$40 million (US$31.5 millIon) within a period of 10 years, according to the re-leased data. In addition to this, the project is expected to generate some C$100 million per year in employment, services and goods.
