Swedish-owned Africa Resources AB has extracted the company's first diamonds larger than 6 karats in the project in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Three such diamonds have recently been found. A rough grade diamond (unlipped) of over 6 karats of good quality, according to the company's local partners, has a value in the range of 130-180 000 SEK
- Alluvial recovery is often associated with smaller diamonds, between 0.3-1.0 carats. These findings show that there are larger diamonds in the area which are encouraging for the future. Larger rocks are the "turquoise component" of alluvial diamond extraction and part of what makes this business so exciting. Based on geology or exploration, it is not possible to judge how many, or when larger diamonds are found, it is always a potential side in the recovery, "said Africa Resources CEO Thomas Häggkvist in a press release.
