The recruitments for Terrafame's battery chemicals plant will begin soon. The factory needs 120-150 employees. Upon completion, the plant will be one of the largest manufacturers of battery chemicals in the world.
Terrafame Oy will soon start recruiting employees for the battery chemical plant under construction in Sotkamo. The trial run of the mill is scheduled to start at the end of next year and actual production will begin in 2021.
- We will need 120-150 employees. I believe we will find talent for different tasks, says Kristian Granit, who starts as the head of a battery chemicals factory in early October.
The Sotkamo mine has the largest cobalt deposit in the country. Upon completion, the plant will be one of the largest manufacturers of battery chemicals in the world.
"Already, our product is being processed into cobalt for battery use, but at present, it is being made by others than us," Granit says.
The mill's environmental permit is still being processed. According to Granit, negotiations with the prospective buyer, the cobalt processor, will begin as production begins to approach.
"Whether it's one customer or many, it remains to be seen," Granit says.
