Vancouver-based Salazar Resources has announced it started a diamond drill programme of about 3,000 metres at the com-pany’s Rumiñahui gold project in Ecuador.

"The style of the gold and copper mineralization I have seen at surface here indicates that there could be a major porphyry copper system at depth. This drill program is a seminal event for the Company and our team has worked closely with the local community and forged strong relation-ships to enable the work to advance," said Fredy E. Salazar, the president and CEO of Salazar Resources, as quoted in a statement.

The company says its Ecuadorian concession covers some 2,910 hec-tares. The performed mapping and sampling have indicated the presence of gold-bearing sulphide mineralization, porphyry-style alteration, multiple shear and breccia zones, as well as veining, according to the statement.
