Russian aluminium producer to increase output

Production to increase Russian aluminium producer Rusal has unveiled plans to raise its output to 4.4 million tonnes by 2021, an increase of 19% compared with last year.

 

The company says it forecasts global aluminium demand to expand by between 4% to 5% per year in the coming years. Rusal believes that the positive market trend will be driven by a higher demand for green" aluminium and advanced alloys, according to the information obtained by Reuters.

 

By 2020, Rusal also plans to use 100% non-carbon energy sources for its smelting operations.

 

Set up in 2000, Rusal says it is a leading aluminium producer and one of the worlds major producers of alumina. The company has an industrial presence in 13 countries on five continents, and its assets include 11 aluminium smelters, 11 alumina refineries and eight bauxite mines, according to data from Rusal
