Vancouver-based Anacortes Mining has announce that the company’s wholly-owned Peruvian subsidiary Aurifera Tres Cruces S.A. recently awarded the contract for drilling services to local firm Remicsa Drilling S.A. and is readying for the phase 1 drilling pro-gramme at the Tres Cruces gold project in Peru.

Located in Peru’s northern part, the Tres Cruces project was last drilled in 2008 by Barrick Gold, Anacortes Mining said in a statement.

Jim Currie, the CEO of Anacortes Mining, said that with “the contract-ing in place for drilling and site preparation, we are now making the final arrangements to start our Phase 1 Drilling Program as planned by mid-April. Our experienced and well qualified geology team are anxious to begin drilling to deepen holes that ended in wide zones of higher-grade mineralization, to test the extent of the deposit, and ob-tain fresh samples required for our upcoming metallurgical testing program.”
