Montreal-based Champion Iron has reported the company’s production results and mining operation expenditures for its fiscal fourth quarter which ended on 31 March 2022.

The company said in a statement that, during the previous quarter, it produced some 1.869 million wet metric tonnes (wmt) of high-grade 66.2 percent iron concentrate. This represented a decrease of about 7 percent compared with Champion Iron’s production for the same period of 2021.

David Cataford, the company’s CEO, said that in spite of "the many challenges imposed by the pandemic and increased logistical complexity across the global supply chain, our Phase II expansion project nears completion with commissioning expected shortly. Studies are advancing on additional organic growth opportunities in order to capitalize on the rising demand for the high-purity iron ore products we produce in our sought-after stable operating jurisdiction."
