JSC Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical company (Almalyk MMC) and Metso have continued to successfully cooperate on the copper smelter complex investment in Uzbekistan based on the frame agreement announced on April 2, 2024. The parties have now signed equipment and project services delivery contracts.
Metso’s scope of delivery includes flash smelting and flash converting, gas cleaning and sulfuric acid production technologies. The planned production capacity of the new copper smelter, which will be integrated with the company’s existing operations in Almalyk, is 300,000 tpa of copper cathodes and 1.8 million tpa of sulphuric acid.
Almalyk MMC and Metso have now signed six contracts, which will be booked into Metso’s order intake and communicated once they become effective.
Almalyk MMC is the main copper producer in Uzbekistan. The company produces refined copper, gold, silver, zinc, molybdenum, lead concentrate and other products.
