Around 14 miners are supposed to have died after becoming trapped due to the collapse of a mine they were working in at Prestea-Nsuta in Ghana's western region, according to government officials.
A total of 19 miners were trapped at the site when a pit caved in the wake of heavy rains last week.
According to Prestea district police commander, 14 miners were found dead in the mine, and a few managed to escape.
The mining pit was illegal, according to the police. There are a lot of reports of illegal mining in Ghana.
