Mexican silver, gold producer increases revenues, production

Silver production rises Mexican silver, gold producer Fresnillo has unveiled its improved financial results for the first half of 2017, with revenues of about US$1.07 billion, up 11.5% year-on-year, and a higher silver production of 28 million oz, up 11.2%.

 The Mexican company says that in the first six months of this year its gold production remained relatively stable, at some 446,000 oz, down 0.4% compared with the same period in 2016.

 Fresnillo says it is the worlds leading silver producer and one of Mexicos largest gold producer. The firm operates seven mines and two development projects.

 Set up in 2008, the company was established following the establishing of Penoles that separated precious metal sbusiness into Fresnillo. The group says it is aiming to reach a produciton of some 65 million oz of silver per year by 2018.
