In Burkina Faso in West Africa is the world's largest manganese resource. However, several mining companies have gone wrong when they have wanted to extract the minerals when they came into conflict with Burkina Faso's government. For the third time, the country is looking for a business partner for the project.

The deposit in Tambao has an estimated value of one billion dollars.

Production in the mine ended in 2015 when the mining company Pan African Minerals no longer enjoyed the government's confidence. Formerly, Dubai-based Wadi al Rawda Investments has been forced to terminate its operations in Burkina Faso for the same reason, and in both cases, the cases have come to court. Pan African Mineral demands Burkina Faso of $ 4 billion in damages.

In an interview, the country's mining minister Oumarou Idani says:

- Pan African Minerals did not fulfill its obligations. It is then meant that we find a strategic partner that is reliable and starts a new project.

Until then, it relies on revenues from major gold deposits.
