Swedish production of crude steel fell to 358,000 tonnes in February, 9 percent less than in the same month last year, according to the trade association Jernkontoret.
During the first two months of the year, Swedish crude steel production amounted to 819,000 tonnes, a decline of 2 percent compared with the same period last year.
According to the Järnkontoret (Iron Office), whose statistics are based on the basis of eleven Swedish steel manufacturers, the production decline is associated with operational disturbances.
Sweden's steel companies have chosen to specialize in different areas. Production is focused on highly finished products which mainly go for export. Committed and competent employees are the foundation of the steel industry's success.
