One of the world's largest chemical companies, BASF, is planning to build a battery factory for electric cars in Harjavalta, just over 100 kilometers north of Turku.
The city council in Harjavalta has an extraordinary meeting on Monday where they intend to make a decision to transfer the plots and make the necessary changes to the investment.
The intentions agreement to be written shall be in force until the beginning of November.
BASF announced a major investment program a year ago in June and plans to invest 400 million euros in leading cathodic production units.
It is still unclear where in Europe the factories and units could be built.
As interest in electric cars increases, demand for batteries is also expected to rise.

Demand for precisely the kind of products is expected to increase significantly as electric vehicles become more common.
Northvolt planned a similar factory in Vaasa
Ifjol, the company Northvolt was interested in building a similar, but much larger, battery plant in Vaasa.
The management of BASF and the decision-makers in Harjavalta is still deserted as regards the plans around the factory.
It is also unclear how much the factory would be but the site that the company showed interest in is over 14 hectares.
