Lithium miner to invest $380M in Australian project

Talison Lithium has announced plans to invest A$516 million (US$380 million) with the aim to upgrade its Green-bushes project, located in Western Australia.

 

Under the plan, the expansion is to double the mine’s production ca-pacity to some 1.95 million tonnes per year, starting in 2020, accord-ing to the information obtained by local daily The West Australian. Talison Lithium is expected to increase the mine’s workforce to about 250 employees.

 

The latest investment comes on top of an earlier project, worth some A$320 million, to upgrade the Greenbushes project. The project is scheduled to be completed in April 2019.
