Vale notes record production for iron ore

Brazilian mining giant Vale states that record production for iron ore and pellets during the second quarter, given that a strike struck Brazil for twelve days. It reports Search Alpha.

 Vale states that iron ore production in the second quarter amounted to a total of 96.8 million tonnes while pellets production amounted to 12.84 tonnes.

The sales volume of iron ore and pellets amounted to 86.5 million tonnes, which was also a record for the second quarter and six percent higher than the 81.7 tonnes sold in the corresponding period last year.

The revenue mix also improved for the company, where the share of premium products increased from 68 to 77 percent year on year in the second quarter.

During the second half of the year, the volume is expected to exceed 100 million tonnes per quarter, in line with previous guidance from the company for the full year.
