A report published by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reveals that it will again allow asbestos. The United States has not had a total ban on the mineral, but it has been de facto unusable in the construction industry, writes Svenska Yle.

Now it has been decided to allow new building materials containing the mineral. From EPA's notice, it is announced that the risk of asbestos in the air, ground or water is no longer taken into account.

Asbestos is prohibited due to its health-beneficial effects. The most common diseases associated with the mineral are asbestos and lung cancer.

Svenska Arbetsmiljöverket announces that when processing or shredding materials containing asbestos, a large number of asbestos fibers float in the air for a very long time because the fibers are very light and thin.

It is dangerous to inhale asbestos fibers because the fibers can cause several serious lung diseases such as cancer.

President Trump does not believe in health risks. The Russian company Uralasbest conducted a PR campaign with the help of the US president. The asbestos producer posted pictures on social media with a picture of the US president.

The red stencil had the caption: "Approved by Donald Trump, 45th President of the United States". In Swedish about, "Approved by Donald Trump, US 45th President."

Trump has long been officially skeptical about asbestos health risks. In his book "The Art of the Comeback" from 1997, he writes that the ban has been caused by group pressure.

The process began in 2016 following an addition to reviewing the Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976. The decision was taken by the Congress.

EPA has now started work and asbestos was one of the ten first materials the Authority took a position on.

The amendment adopted in 2016 stipulates that the EPA will address hundreds of subjects. The review applies to substances that are already regulated and substances that should potentially be regulated.

The decision of the EPA does not mean that asbestos unregulated will start selling at the stores. The authority has decided to decide on the substance on a case by case basis, writes Svenska Yle and cites EPA.

Since the material is not manufactured in the US, it is imported from Russia and Brazil.
