Gem Diamonds Limited announces the recovery of a 138 carat, top white colour Type IIa diamond from the Letšeng mine in Lesotho, the highest dollar per carat kimberlite diamond mine in the world.

This recovery is now the twelfth diamond of over 100 carats in 2018, and a record for the Company in terms of the number of diamonds of over 100 carats recovered in a year.

The company’s Letseng mine in Lesotho has produced 11 diamonds this year of more than 100 carats. The most recent discovery of the 138-carat, top white color, type IIa diamond breaks the company’s previous record set in 2015 — that year, 11 diamonds of over 100 carats were recovered from Letseng.

According to Gem Diamonds, its Lesotho mine is the highest-dollar-per-carat kimberlite mine in the world.
