Toronto-based First Cobalt Corp. has unveiled it launched drilling at Iron Creek, its wholly-owned cobalt-copper pro-ject in Idaho, the U.S. The miner says its objective is to double the size of the current resource over the next two years.

“The drill campaign follows successful meetings in Washington be-tween executives from First Cobalt and senior elected officials, in-cluding the Idaho delegation to Congress, and civil servants from sev-eral departments and agencies,” First Cobalt said in a statement.

The company claims that Iron Creek is one of only two primary cobalt resource projects in the U.S.

“Assuming drill results are as expected in 2021, we anticipate an even larger drill campaign in 2022, to fast-track our plans for domestic mine supply,” Trent Mell, the president and CEO of First Cobalt, was quoted in the statement.
