Australian miner Gold Fields has awarded a contract ex-tension worth some A$200 million (US$154 million) to Barminco for un-derground mining at its Agnew gold mine in Western Australia.

Gold Fields produces more than 250,000 oz of gold a year at Agnew, the company said in a statement.

Mark Norwell, the managing director and chief executive of Barminco's parent company Perenti Global, was quoted in the statement as saying that part of the company’s "2025 group strategy is to organically grow this part of our business".

Gold Fields says it is a globally diversified gold producer, operating nine mines in Australia, Peru, South Africa, West Africa, and Chile.

Barminco says it is one of the world’s largest hard rock underground min-ing services companies. The company runs operations in Australia, Africa and North America, according to data from Barminco.
